Why it matters
Most sports wearables measure the body: heart rate, pace, movement. Nuromova N1 aims at the head instead. The maker bills it as the "world's first AI sports headband," combining EEG (electroencephalography) sensing with AI to track seven key mental states, including focus, stress and fatigue, and says it is trusted by Olympians. Neither claim is independently verified here.
Reading the brain during training
According to the maker, the headband captures brainwaves from two frontal positions, FP1 and FP2, and detects focus level, stress fluctuations, physical and mental fatigue and momentary emotional shifts in real time. That mental data is visualised live and linked with motion-tracking data, so an athlete can see which movements coincided with a drop in concentration or a spike in stress. The campaign's examples include pinpointing the set in tennis serve practice where focus began to slip, or the running pace at which fatigue climbs sharply.
After a session, the maker describes a deeper review mode that calculates three core metrics: mental resilience, training effectiveness and athlete load. The headband can also record training video and automatically sync mental data to the video timeline, or attach data to footage uploaded afterwards, so a missed basketball shot can be viewed alongside the moment focus fell.
The AI coach and Dynamic Ring
- Proactive conversation: the AI coach learns from past performance data and flags trends, such as fatigue rising early across recent sessions, with suggested adjustments.
- AI tools: help with editing training video, searching past data and organising notes.
- AI Notes: automatically compiled training notes combining conversations, mental data and video, designed to be shared.
- Vibration alerts: the headband vibrates when focus falls below a baseline or stress reaches a set level; intensity and interval are customisable, and alerts can be switched off.
- Dynamic Ring: a pre-training "mental activation" mode offering positive self-talk prompts matched to mood and focus, plus vibration-guided breathing rhythms.
Built to stay out of the way
The maker says the N1 is small and lightweight, with no buttons, lights or screen to cause accidental inputs or glare. It charges by being placed on a dedicated Smart Dock, and the computing module is rated IPX7, which the maker says makes it sweat-resistant and washable. The company also cites more than 10 patent applications and copyrights covering its EEG signal processing, hardware design and AI algorithms.
