Why it matters
According to the maker, PIN Pulse began with founder Rishu's frustration that existing wearables offered only surface-level data when people close to him felt vaguely unwell. After more than two years of development, The Pin Universe, which says it has shipped to customers in over 60 countries following two successful Kickstarter campaigns, has introduced the ring as a way to bring deeper wellness insights into a single device.
Sensors and estimated metrics
The maker says three advanced sensors and built-in AI algorithms capture 16 health metrics in real time, taking advantage of the fingertip's thin skin and dense blood flow. A PPG (photoplethysmography) sensor is used to estimate blood glucose trends non-invasively through a manual in-app measurement, indicating whether levels look normal or elevated and keeping a history for long-term comparison. The same optical approach is used to estimate systolic and diastolic blood pressure. The maker stresses these features are for general wellness and are not a substitute for medical diagnosis or treatment.
For sleep, the ring monitors breathing patterns, heart rate variability, blood oxygen and nighttime movement to flag possible sleep apnea, and scores sleep quality using duration, deep-sleep share and consistency. The 16 metrics also include ovulation and pregnancy-related insights, which the maker says draw on measured heart rate, temperature and other body signals rather than calendar estimates alone.
Design and battery
- Scratch-resistant, hypoallergenic titanium in gold, silver and black
- 2.7mm thick, described as about 1/4 the thickness of Apple Watch Series 9
- Under 4 grams, which the maker puts at less than 1/20 of a typical smartwatch
- Water resistant to 50 meters (5 ATM)
- 7+ days of use from a 1-hour charge, longer depending on ring size
- Sampling interval adjustable down to 5-minute increments
App, sharing and privacy
The campaign states that AI insights, trend analysis and full data access come with no subscription or hidden fees. One app can connect multiple PIN Pulse rings for family health sharing, with data shared only by consent. The maker says health data is encrypted, never sold to third parties, can be managed or deleted in the app, and is used for AI improvement only if users opt in. An in-app chatbot explains trends and answers questions about the user's data.
