R900
A wireless HDMI transmitter and receiver system rated for up to 650ft, about 200m, and up to four screens
Editor’s view
Why it matters
Long HDMI runs dictate where screens can go: under conference-room carpets, along walls, across event floors. R900 is designed to take that cable out of the equation, transmitting video wirelessly from a single transmitter to TVs, monitors, projectors and displays. It appears on Modern-G as a Kickstarter project.
What the maker claims
- Wireless transmission range of up to 650ft, about 200m
- 1080P@60Hz video
- 50ms latency
- 1TX-to-4RX viewing: one transmitter to up to four receivers
- App control
- Built-in power
Range is the headline figure. The source notes that actual distance and stability with wireless transmission depend on the environment, so the 200m number should be read as a maximum rather than a guarantee. Within that envelope, the maker positions R900 for setups such as a PC at the back of a large meeting room feeding a display at the front, or stage video relayed to a distant monitor at an event.
Latency and image quality
At 1080P@60Hz, R900 targets Full HD output suited to slide text, charts, video and camera feeds. The quoted 50ms latency, or 0.05 seconds, is not zero, but the maker frames it as low enough to keep slide advances, cursor movement and camera framing reasonably in step with what appears on screen.
One source, four screens
The 1TX-to-4RX configuration lets one transmitter feed up to four receivers. The suggested uses include trade-show booths with displays facing several directions, retail signage at entrances and checkouts, overflow monitors for rear seats in classrooms and seminars, and a second room at home, all without HDMI splitters and long distribution cabling. App control is meant to make receivers mounted behind high monitors easier to manage, and built-in power is pitched as loosening the tie to wall outlets for temporary displays and on-set monitoring.
