Why it matters
Most laser engravers ask for a dedicated bench, a cable to a computer and a way to clamp the workpiece. Raymoto A1 takes a different approach: according to the maker, it is a cordless, handheld galvo engraver weighing about 500g, meant to be picked up and brought to whatever needs marking, whether that is a leather key case, a wooden tag or an object too large or fixed in place to fit inside a conventional machine.
Galvo speed, with a preview first
Instead of moving a gantry, a galvo system steers the beam with fast-moving mirrors. The maker quotes engraving speeds of up to 500mm/s (30,000mm/min), plus a position preview at up to 1,000mm/s so placement can be checked before the laser starts marking. Precision is listed at up to 0.01mm, with a laser spot of 0.07×0.06mm aimed at small type and fine lines.
Handheld mode and materials
The maximum engraving area is 75×75mm, sized for logos, names, coasters, tags and cards rather than large artwork. In handheld mode the unit is positioned directly on the target, which the maker pitches for large boxes, fixed furniture, irregular shapes, shop fixtures and live demonstrations at workshops or events. The battery-powered handle is rated for more than 1.5 hours of operation under test conditions.

Software and configurations
An AI design assistant generates engraving designs from photos or text prompts, which the maker presents as a starting point for those without design software experience. The project offers Basic, Standard, Portable Kit and Enclosed configurations. The Enclosed version provides a Class 1 laser safety option; the maker notes that open configurations require appropriate laser safety measures.
