SINEX Z2

Smartphone photography and streaming now cover everything from travel shots and vlogs to online meetings, and most of those jobs call for a different accessory. Tailbone Inc.'s SINEX Z2 aims to consolidate them: according to the maker, a single unit works as a selfie stick, a handheld shooting grip and a tripod or live-streaming stand, changing shape as the situation requires.

Magnetic mounting for most phones

The core of the design is a MagSafe-compatible magnetic mount. The maker says iPhone 12 and later MagSafe models attach simply by being placed on the holder, with smooth angle adjustment. For phones without MagSafe, a stick-on magnet ring is included, along with a magnetic clip adapter, so that different handsets can be secured on the same stand.

Remote, light and accessory support

A wireless shutter remote operates from up to 10 metres away, according to the maker, and stows in a magnetic slot on the body so it travels with the stand. A standard-size cold shoe mount accepts accessories such as LED lights or external microphones; the campaign describes a fill light bundled as a GREEN FUNDING backer reward, intended for dim settings such as dusk or indoors.

Build and ergonomics

The stand uses a five-section telescoping structure in high-quality aluminium alloy, extending to a maximum of 43cm. The maker quotes a weight of 174g and a collapsed length of 11.5cm, roughly the footprint of a typical smartphone. Rotating the support arm 90 degrees switches it into what Tailbone calls "shooting assistant mode" for one-handed use.

The maker also points to a symmetrical shape suited to either hand and a centre-of-gravity design meant to spread the phone's weight and reduce wrist strain during long shoots or streams. Suggested uses include travel selfies, overhead shots of food or products, live streaming on YouTube or Instagram, and remote meetings.
