The maker of Sleepmi Z4 says its device takes a different route: it captures snoring frequency and combines it with multi-dimensional data, including body movement and sleep detection, then runs that through a composite algorithm to judge whether the wearer is actually snoring. The aim, according to the maker, is to tell snoring apart from other sounds even in a loud room and keep false triggers to a minimum.

Breathing pauses and sleep data

The feature the maker emphasizes most is detection of and intervention in breathing pauses. Sleepmi Z4 is described as continuously tracking a breathing curve and analyzing changes, combined with algorithms for blood oxygen and heart rate. When it recognizes a pause, it delivers pulses of different intensities intended to help the wearer return to a normal breathing rhythm.

That same data feeds a companion app. The maker says breathing curve, blood oxygen and heart rate information is presented as visual sleep analysis, so users can review the previous night's sleep quality and breathing in the morning.
