AOHi Starship Pro

As laptops, tablets and phones pile into the average everyday bag, keeping them all charged away from a wall socket has become its own problem. AOHi's answer is the Starship Pro, a Kickstarter project that pairs a modest 10,000mAh capacity with output figures more often associated with much larger batteries.

Output first

The maker says the Starship Pro supports up to 210W of total output, and up to 140W through a single port. AOHi positions that single-port figure at machines like the 16-inch MacBook Pro, claiming a substantial top-up in a matter of tens of minutes. Beyond phones and tablets, the company also pitches it at high-end laptops and gaming devices.

Charging is handled over USB Power Delivery 3.1. According to the maker, the newer standard enables higher and more stable output than PD 3.0, which it frames as a better match for recent devices with larger batteries.

Size, travel and safety

AOHi describes the Starship Pro as palm-sized and compact enough to slip into a pocket. The company also says it meets the requirements for carrying on board aircraft, on both domestic and international flights, making it a candidate for frequent travellers and business trips.

• Up to 210W total output (maker claim)
• Up to 140W from a single port (maker claim)
• 10,000mAh capacity
• USB PD 3.1 support
• Overcurrent, overheating and short-circuit protection
• Described by the maker as permitted in aircraft cabins

On safety, the maker lists a multi-layer protection system covering overcurrent, overheating and short circuits. Details such as port count and configuration, dimensions, weight and recharge time are not specified in the material available to Modern-G.
