Tactical EDC Modular Power Bank

Most power banks are a single sealed unit: once the cells are drained, the device is done until it can be recharged. The Tactical EDC Modular Power Bank takes a different approach. Its battery is a separate module, and the idea is that you carry a spare and swap it in, rather than waiting on a wall outlet.

Built around the module

The maker describes a "one-hand swap" mechanism intended to let users change modules using only one hand, which could matter when the other is occupied. Capacity is expanded by carrying more modules, an arrangement the campaign pitches for full-day camping, hiking or emergency kits. The maker rates each module for 5,000 charge cycles and says the modules themselves recharge at 5V/3A.

• Weight: 115g, according to the maker
• Output: up to 22.5W fast charging
• Module charge cycles: 5,000 (maker rating)
• Module self-charging: 5V/3A
• Keychain design for bags, belt loops or key cases
• Alloy frame with water and dust resistance, per the maker

Designed to be carried

The body is a keychain design meant to clip onto a bag, belt loop or key case, and the maker describes it as compact enough to sit in the palm. The frame is alloy, which the maker says is meant to withstand everyday scuffs and impacts, and the unit is described as water- and dust-resistant, though no formal rating is given in the source material. The styling is deliberately minimal.

The modular structure also leaves room for future expansion: the source suggests that higher-capacity or special-purpose modules could be made compatible later, though nothing specific has been announced. The product was launched as a Kickstarter project.
