Takolink

Most portable displays treat phone mirroring as an afterthought to laptop use. According to the maker, Takolink reverses that priority: it is designed around the moment someone wants to show a photo, video or slide deck to the people nearby, and tries to remove the setup steps that usually get in the way.

One tap, no network

The campaign describes the pitch as "no Wi-Fi, no cables, no app, no dongle." Holding a phone near the monitor is said to establish a connection automatically and put the screen up immediately. Because it does not depend on a shared Wi-Fi network, the maker states it works in places without a signal, such as a campsite or an offline café meeting. Both iPhone and Android are supported, according to the campaign.

Designed for shared use

A built-in motion sensor rotates the image between portrait and landscape as the display is turned, mirroring how a phone behaves. The front carries large buttons intended to be understandable at a glance, including for older users, and the maker positions the device as a household or office screen rather than a personal one. Suggested uses range from showing family photos and comparing menus or furniture designs to client presentations, and using it as a viewfinder for selfies and vlogging.

Also a conventional monitor

• Ports and protocols listed as USB-C/DP/HDMI
• Can connect to a Nintendo Switch or serve as an extra laptop display, including wirelessly with a laptop
• Housing in ABS/PC plastic; rear stand in aluminum alloy
• Pre-production drop, vibration, temperature and stand open-close cycle testing, per the maker
• FCC/CE/UKCA certification stated to be obtained before shipping

The campaign does not list screen size, resolution, battery capacity or weight, so how it compares with other portable monitors on those fronts remains an open question.
