NexFold Fold7
Three 16-inch screens in an inverted L layout that turn a single laptop into a portable workstation.
Editor’s view
Why it matters
Working from a laptop alone often means a constant shuffle of windows: hiding the browser to read a document, closing a work window to check chat, flipping back and forth to copy figures from a spreadsheet. NexFold Fold7 is built to address that shortage of screen space. The maker describes it as a portable monitor with three 16-inch screens that extend the working area of a single laptop.
An inverted L instead of a wide row
Rather than lining three panels up side by side, Fold7 uses what the maker calls an inverted L layout, extending the workspace upward as well as to the side. The idea is to create a large field of view without taking over a small café table or hotel desk. In the suggested setup, the top screen holds information you want in constant view, the side screen carries reference material or secondary tasks, and the main work stays front and centre on the laptop. The maker pitches use cases ranging from code, documentation and preview for developers to charts, news and trading screens for traders.
The campaign says Fold7 is compatible with laptops from 13 to 18.5 inches, covering compact ultraportables through larger machines.
Connection and compatibility
Fold7 is described as plug-and-play. According to the maker, newer laptops may be able to connect with a single USB-C cable, while older laptops can use a combination of USB and mini HDMI cables. Supported operating systems are listed as Linux, Windows, Mac and Chrome OS.
Built to travel
The maker gives the weight as 6.8lb and includes a carrying handle, positioning the three-screen setup as something you can take between home, office, coworking spaces and hotel rooms. It is not a pocketable accessory, but the pitch is that a full multi-monitor environment can move with you.
