Under Sky

Under Sky sets out to be more than a desk lamp. According to the maker, the design began with a simple aim: to bring the beauty, intelligence and calm of the sky into indoor lighting. Instead of a typical plastic body, the lamp borrows the form of a satellite's solar wings, is shaped from CNC-machined aluminum and uses full-spectrum optics.

Wings that reconfigure

The centerpiece is what the maker calls the Satellite Cruise Solar Wing Design. Each of the two light wings rotates up to 270 degrees, and multi-axis joints let them unfold, fold, float or tilt. The maker describes configurations ranging from a soft ambient arc and wide horizontal lighting to an asymmetric creative light, a downward focused beam or a vertical side glow, aimed at setups such as large desks, dual-monitor workstations, sketchbooks, reading corners and craft tables. The wide wingspan and dual light sources are also said to cover a broader, smoother area than most standard desk lamps.

Light for day and night

For long sessions, the maker says the Full-Spectrum Eye-Care Lighting is designed to simulate shifts in natural light, softening high-energy wavelengths, balancing mid-range hues and emphasizing warm reds compared with typical LED lamps, with the goal of reducing visual fatigue while keeping colors vivid. After dark, a 1800K Sleep-Aid Glow switches to a candle- or sunset-like tone with very low blue light, intended for late reading and relaxing before bed.

Art Edition

An Art Edition adds an exterior upgrade drawn from shadow-puppet motifs: a star-eye pattern on the body recalling the star-like scales of a candle dragon, flame motifs on the base and shade, and a top knob inspired by a coin motif. The body is finished in high-gloss reflective metal in a near-black tone. The maker's summary also mentions a candle shadow-play mode for this edition. Under Sky is presented as a Kickstarter project.
