Vtiger S2

Powerful flashlights tend to be bulky, while small ones often need frequent recharging. Vtiger's answer is the S2, where the "S" stands for Slim. According to the maker, it is meant for daily use, as a secondary light outdoors and as part of an emergency kit.

Output and modes

The maker says two Luminus SFT12 LEDs deliver up to 1600 lumens. There are five brightness levels: Moonlight (1 lumen), Low (10 lumens), Middle (120 lumens), High (350 lumens) and Turbo (1600 lumens). A White & UV version adds 365nm UV light at 1000mW alongside white light of up to 1600 lumens. The maker suggests UV uses such as checking for counterfeit banknotes, inspecting fluorescent paint and spotting dirt.

Everything runs from a single switch. A click toggles the light on and off, and a press-and-hold cycles Low, Middle, High and Turbo. A double-click jumps straight to Turbo on the dual-white version, or switches between white and UV on the White & UV version. A triple-click activates strobe. From off, holding the switch for 1 second starts Moonlight mode, and continuing to hold engages a lockout mode. The maker says lockout prevents accidental activation in a pocket or bag.

Battery, charging and build

• Built-in 1100mAh battery pack; the maker quotes up to 62 hours on Low and 20 days on Moonlight
• Type-C fast charging through a port the maker describes as waterproof
• Four indicators show remaining battery when the light is switched on, and charging progress while charging
• Magnetic base for attaching to metal surfaces, plus a deep-pocket clip
• One-piece construction that the maker says conducts heat from the LED base through the body
• Aluminium alloy reflector with orange-peel coating, and a high-clarity glass lens with anti-reflective coating

The S2 is offered in blue, green, titanium and black. According to the campaign, each colour is available in a dual-white version and a White & UV version.
