ChocoDream™
A handheld pen that extrudes melted chocolate to draw lettering, patterns and 3D shapes
Editor’s view
Why it matters
Most people associate 3D printing with plastic filament. ChocoDream™ swaps that for chocolate: according to the maker, the pen lets users draw letters, patterns and even three-dimensional pieces using melted chocolate as the medium. The campaign describes it as the world's first 3D chocolate printing pen, a claim Modern-G has not independently verified.
How it works
The maker says the pen accepts dark, milk and white chocolate, which opens the door to layered pieces in different colors and flavors. Store-bought chocolate can reportedly be melted and used directly, so no special ingredients are required.
Because chocolate's hardness and viscosity shift with small changes in temperature, the pen includes temperature adjustment for the tip along with output speed control. According to the campaign, speed control helps switch between thick and thin lines and keeps 3D structures stable while they are being built. Operation is described as simple: power on, load the chocolate and press the button.
- Works with dark, milk and white chocolate, per the maker
- Temperature adjustment for the pen tip
- Adjustable output speed for line width and 3D stability
- Grip shaped for use by both children and adults
- Portable, according to the campaign
Who it is for
The maker pitches ChocoDream™ at a wide audience: home bakers, families looking for an educational activity with children, aspiring pastry chefs and adults interested in confectionery art. It also points to professional uses such as decorating dessert plates in patisseries and cafés, personalized name chocolates for events and weddings, and chocolate pieces displayed as artwork.
Looking further ahead, the campaign speculates about applications in hand rehabilitation and therapy, as well as in advertising and PR events. These are presented as possibilities rather than established uses.
