HANG PACK
A compression bag for clothes that hangs in the closet while still compressed, from suitcase to rail
Editor’s view
Why it matters
Most compression bags stop at making clothes flat: once the air is out, they get stacked or pushed into a drawer. According to the maker, HANG PACK is built to be hung while still compressed. Pack it, squeeze it down, slide it into a suitcase, then hang the whole bag in a hotel closet on arrival, taking out only what is needed and putting it back afterwards. The idea is that packing and unpacking stop being two separate jobs.
Size and capacity
The maker lists dimensions of approximately 58×32×15cm and a capacity of approximately 27.8L. As a guide, it says the bag holds 3–4 sweaters, about 2 down jackets or 10–15 men's T-shirts, roughly 2–3 nights of clothing for an adult man. It is said to fit in an S-size suitcase, with two fitting side by side in an L-size case. At home, bags can be linked top to bottom with carabiners to use the dead space beneath hanging clothes.
Construction and features
- A transparent window in the center of the black body, so contents can be identified without opening the zip
- A double zip and an air-lock valve that, the maker says, limit air creeping back in, including when the pump is removed
- Two-layer build: high-density ripstop outside, polyethylene inside
- A dedicated pump weighing about 140g with a maximum pressure of 5kPa, rated to compress clothes in roughly 30 seconds
- A silica gel desiccant that turns from blue to pink as it absorbs moisture, also adsorbs ammonia, and can be regenerated by heating in a microwave
- A load capacity of 10kg
The fabric is described as high-density ripstop of the kind used in military parachutes, about 2.8 times thicker than the maker's own previous compression bags. The campaign claims it resists tearing and abrasion, sheds water easily, and that the dense weave and sealed construction physically help keep insects out.
Visually, HANG PACK is all black with white typography and a tall transparent window, a deliberately low-key look meant to sit alongside hanging clothes without standing out. The small pump also makes re-compressing luggage on the road practical, for instance when souvenirs fill the return trip.
