LUMISTAR CARRY

LUMISTAR CARRY

A four-camera AI basketball rebounder that passes on hand gestures and analyzes your shooting form.

Editor’s view

Why it matters

Solo shooting practice has familiar friction: chasing rebounds breaks rhythm, passes come from fixed spots, and nobody is there to point out a dropped elbow. LUMISTAR CARRY is the maker's answer, an AI-driven machine that it says goes well beyond simple ball-return devices by tracking the player and adapting to them.

Four cameras, 190-degree view

The machine carries four cameras in total. According to the maker, three watch the player's movement on court while the fourth follows the ball's path toward and away from the rim. With a stated 190-degree field of view, the system is designed to keep tracking as players move from wing to corner or cut into space, rather than confining them to a narrow zone.

The unit weighs 35 kg and measures roughly 52 cm × 38 cm × 100 cm, with an integrated handle and wheels. Its frame pairs carbon fiber with aluminum alloy on a wide pyramid-shaped base, which the maker says keeps it steady during repeated passing. The net deploys automatically at the push of a button, with no tools required; setup is quoted at around 60 seconds.

Passing on command

Instead of firing balls at fixed intervals, LUMISTAR CARRY responds to hand gestures. The maker says the AI locates the player, updates their position in real time as they move, and times the pass accordingly. A motor system adjusts pass speed, spin and release height, which the campaign claims approximates a pass from a human teammate and delivers the ball to a shootable spot. Passing rhythm can also be varied for drills with changes of pace.

An AI coach for shooting form

The AI biomechanics coach tracks the full shooting motion from feet to fingertips, quantifying force transfer, timing and posture. According to the maker, it compares the player's motion with professional form data and flags points such as release angle, elbow position and timing. It also logs shot trajectory, backspin, court position and results to build heat maps, and is said to detect trends like form breaking down with fatigue.
