Martvsen™

Phone cameras have become remarkably capable, but zoom remains a weak point. Capturing distant subjects clearly has typically meant carrying dedicated, expensive gear. Martvsen™ pitches itself as a way around that: an external telephoto lens system presented as a Kickstarter project, aimed at wildlife, sports and live-music shooters who want more reach from the phone already in their pocket.

Reach, bokeh and low light

The headline claim is a 400mm-equivalent telephoto range, which the maker positions as territory phone digital zoom cannot reach. Beyond reach, the campaign promises what it calls professional-level bokeh, with blurred backgrounds that make subjects stand out and add depth to images that might otherwise look flat.

Night shooting is the other focus. According to the maker, a special optical coating and light-gathering design keep noise to a minimum in dim conditions while preserving detail, with city nightscapes, concert lighting and the moon cited as example subjects.

Design and build

• Magnetic attachment that the maker says mounts in just a few seconds, with no dedicated mount or complicated steps
• Body made from aircraft-grade aluminum alloy, described as lightweight and sturdy
• Included storage case intended to protect against impacts and scratches
• Stated compatibility with a wide range of smartphones, including iPhone and Android models

The project page includes a number of sample photos. According to the source, the campaign had passed its $2,500 goal with more than $18,000 in backing at the time of writing. The source also mentions hopes for an expanded accessory lineup and integration with AI correction features, though these are framed as possibilities rather than announced plans.
