Pulli Bin

A stainless steel kitchen bin with a front door, so full bags slide out instead of being hauled up.

Editor’s view

Why it matters

Anyone who has wrestled a heavy, stuck bag out of a kitchen bin knows the problem Pulli Bin sets out to solve. In conventional bins, the bag tends to cling to the inner walls, and getting it out takes real effort. The Kickstarter project's answer is a front-opening door, which the maker says turns the job into a pull rather than a lift.

A door that stays shut until you want it open

The front door is locked at the top and bottom and, according to the maker, will not open unless the lid is raised first. The stated goal is to keep pets and curious children out. A seal around the door is meant to stop liquids escaping, and a drip collection base at the bottom catches any leaks so the interior can be cleaned more easily.

Key features, as described by the maker

  • Front-opening door with top and bottom locks that only opens when the lid is raised
  • Seal around the door to prevent liquid leaks
  • Drip collection base at the bottom for easier cleaning
  • Fits standard 13-gallon (about 49 liters) trash bags, with no proprietary refills required
  • Wide foot pedal for hands-free opening
  • Lift tab on the lid for manual opening, plus a lid lock to hold it open
  • Soft-close lid
  • Stainless steel body with impact-resistant internal parts

The campaign says Pulli Bin was developed by a team of engineers with backgrounds in medical devices and the space industry, and that its design draws on ergonomics and biomechanics. By removing the overhead lift, the maker positions it as particularly useful for older users and people with back pain.

On the manufacturing side, the maker states that the plastics used include recycled material and that production takes place at a high-precision factory in China chosen for its ethical and environmental practices, with BSCI and ISO certifications cited.
