ScrubBall

Burnt pans, greasy grills and the bottoms of bottles are the targets of ScrubBall, a cleaning tool presented on Kickstarter by Yannick Hesch, a French creator working in graphic and product design. From the outside it is a simple sphere; according to the campaign, it packs ten different uses into that shape.

How it is built

The maker says the shell is made of durable, heat-resistant ABS resin with a textured surface intended to stay grippy in wet hands. Neodymium magnets hold the two halves together, and the halves can be separated so each serves a different cleaning task.

• Three interchangeable scrub pads stored inside: stainless steel mesh for burnt-on residue, a sponge type for gentle cleaning and an abrasive pad for stubborn grime
• A design that opens into a handle, which the maker says reduces wrist strain when pressing hard or cleaning large surfaces
• A V-shaped brush tip aimed at corners and gaps such as bottle interiors and oven grooves
• A custom-fit magnetic holder that can be mounted on a wall, around the sink or on the side of a refrigerator

Designed for repair, not replacement

Because the pads are replaceable, the campaign argues users need not replace the whole tool, cutting both cost and waste over time. The maker also says low-impact materials were chosen at the manufacturing stage and that the product is designed to be repaired and kept in use.

The campaign hints at additional parts and color variations, and describes ongoing refinements based on user feedback. The project is reported to have raised more than double its funding goal. Potential uses beyond the kitchen, such as bathrooms, outdoor settings or car detailing, are framed in the source as possibilities rather than announced products.
