Watered-down whisky from melting ice is a familiar complaint, and Smokpub's answer is to skip the ice entirely. The maker says its "CoolSpin technology", a smart cooling unit built into the base, can bring a drink's temperature down in 30 seconds. Beyond cooling, the project leans on temperature, light and sound together to set a mood, pitching the glass as a way to bring a classic bar atmosphere home.

Light and motion

The base houses ambient lighting with more than 10 colour patterns, switched by touch. The more unusual trick is the spin: once the glass is screwed onto its dedicated cooling base and given a light twist, the maker says it rotates on its own more than 10 times, with a harder twist producing more rotations. According to the campaign, combining the LED light with the rotation creates a floating effect on the table.

The maker frames Smokpub as a gift-friendly lifestyle product, and the source suggests the approach could extend to other temperature-sensitive drinks such as craft beer, wine and coffee, though no such products are announced.
