Smokpub Pro

Most smoke guns used to finish a drink rely on butane and an open flame. Smokpub's Kickstarter project takes a different route: the Smokpub Pro is fully electric, and the maker describes it as the world's first electric color-changing smoker. A single button starts the smoke, and a magnetic safety cover is said to extinguish the flame automatically when opened.

How it makes smoke

According to the maker, a built-in air pump pushes smoke into the glass quickly, with a stated output of 0.001m³/s and a running noise level of 30dB. It uses a 3010 blower (DC4.2V, 8400RPM). In smoke mode, the fan and igniter alternate to burn wood chips more efficiently, and a slimmer filter chamber means roughly a teaspoon of chips is enough, the maker says.

Six wood-chip flavors are supported: oak, apple, hickory, cherry, pear and beech. Beyond drinks, the campaign suggests using it on coffee and on foods such as salmon, duck, bacon and nuts. It is described as compact, light and compatible with various glass sizes.

Smoke and lighting can be triggered together with one button. Smokpub also positions the device as more environmentally considerate than butane torches, since it burns no fossil fuel gas.
