Warmy Gen1

Heated apparel usually relies on wire elements stitched into the lining. Warmy Gen1 takes a different route: according to the maker, it uses graphene, a material chosen for its very high thermal conductivity, to spread heat evenly and efficiently across the jacket. The maker describes the graphene layer as ultra-thin yet durable, and says it warms up quickly.

Heat, on three settings

The jacket offers three temperature levels: high (60°C), medium (50°C) and low (40°C). The maker says warmth arrives just 3 seconds after switching it on, and that settings can be changed with simple controls to match conditions.

Designed to be lived in

Inside, the heating unit and battery connect via a magnetic attachment system, which the maker says makes them quick to detach. Removing the heating unit allows the jacket itself to go through a washing machine. The outer shell combines a water-resistant coating with windproof fabric, intended to keep the wearer warm in rain, snow and cold wind.

The styling is deliberately plain: a unisex cut meant to work in both men's and women's wardrobes. The maker positions it for camping, skiing and hiking, for commuting and errands in winter, for travel to cold destinations, and as a backup source of warmth during power outages or emergencies. Warmy Gen1 has been presented as a Kickstarter project.
