Most translation earbuds lean on a paired smartphone and an app. The Wooask A9 takes a different route. The maker says its touchscreen design lets it operate on its own, without app installation or pairing setup. It supports both 4G and WiFi and, according to the maker, switches between networks depending on the environment. Where WiFi isn't available, inserting a SIM card gives it a 4G connection.

More than a translator

ChatGPT integration is central to the pitch. The maker positions it as a personal virtual assistant alongside translation, for example for asking about restaurants, hotels or sightseeing spots while traveling. The A9 can also make voice calls and send and receive text messages, so the maker suggests it can stand in for a smartphone. A hotspot feature shares its 4G connection with other devices such as phones, tablets and laptops.

A built-in HD camera handles photo translation. According to the maker, photographing text on signs or menus returns a translation.

Translation and hardware

The A9 supports real-time two-way translation, so two people speaking different languages can converse through the earbuds. The maker lists support for 74 languages and 70 accents online, and 16 widely used languages offline. It runs on a Qualcomm 4-core chipset, which the maker credits with translation speeds under 0.5 seconds and 98% accuracy. Dual microphones with environmental noise cancellation (ENC) are meant to capture clear voice in noisy settings.
