Y-Glasses Pro2.0

Smart glasses from YAT-Design with magnetic clip-on lenses, open-ear audio, translation and ChatGPT

Editor’s view

Why it matters

YAT-Design pitches the Y-Glasses Pro2.0 as an all-round "style assistant" rather than a stack of features bolted onto a frame. Alongside the corrective and protective roles of ordinary glasses, the maker lists AI assistance, real-time translation and open-ear audio, all packed into a single frame.

Frame and materials

According to the maker, the frame is titanium alloy with TR material at the temple tips, bringing total weight to 30g. Each clip-on lens weighs 5g. There are three frame styles (Rounded Minimal Aesthetic, Bold Modern Aesthetic and Classic Aviator) and two colors, black and silver-gray. Combined with the lenses, YAT-Design says this allows 126 possible looks. A version without Bluetooth is also offered for those who don't need the smart features.

Magnetic lens system

The main lenses carry a blue-light-cut coating and can be made to prescription. Six magnetic clip-on lenses snap onto the same frame. The photochromic, colorful and gradient lenses each come in a choice of 6 colors.

  • Sunglass lens: blocks UVA/UVB and glare
  • Night vision lens: pale yellow filter aimed at low-light contrast and headlight glare
  • 3D lens: compatible with mainstream polarized 3D formats
  • Photochromic lens: darkens automatically with UV intensity
  • Colorful lens: multicolor coating with UV protection
  • Gradient lens: fades from dark to clear

Audio, translation and AI

The maker cites Bluetooth 5.3, TWS support for switching between single-ear and dual-ear modes, dual "ACC" large-amplitude speakers with directional sound to limit leakage, and automatic noise cancellation for calls and playback. The open-ear design is meant to keep wearers aware of their surroundings. YAT-Design also claims two-way real-time translation across more than 160 languages, including live subtitles for foreign-language video, plus a built-in AI engine using OpenAI's ChatGPT. The engine is voice-activated for search, writing and generating meeting notes and summaries.

Battery, durability and prescriptions

Two 90mAh batteries in the temples are rated for 12 hours of continuous use, with magnetic charging. The maker says CIPG sealing achieves an "IPX-65" water resistance rating against splashes, rain and sweat. A companion app can make the glasses beep remotely if they are misplaced. Prescription options include 1.61, 1.67 and 1.74 index blue-light lenses, as well as progressive lenses. Prescriptions with a sphere power beyond ±4.00 require the 1.67 or 1.74 lenses, and details are collected through a survey after the project ends.
