Why it matters

Keycaps are usually an afterthought in plastic. ZEN75 makes them the headline: according to the maker, the keycaps are made from industrial alumina ceramic and finished with an advanced glazing process, giving a smooth surface with ceramic's natural coolness to the touch. The maker says the material contributes to a deep, resonant typing sound, resists impact and wear, and holds up against oil, dirt and dust, which it says makes cleaning easy.

Gasket mount and hot-swap switches

Underneath, ZEN75 uses a gasket-mount structure that combines a PC plate with IXPE and Poron foam. The maker says this isolates switch vibration and smooths out each keystroke. The board ships with Gateron Switches RED 2.0, described as low-profile linear switches, and is fully hot-swappable so switches can be replaced without soldering.

Case, connectivity and programming

The case pairs an aluminium top with a transparent PC bottom. A dual-angle kickstand offers two positions, 5.5° and 7.6°. Connectivity covers USB-C wired, 2.4GHz wireless and Bluetooth 5.0, with support listed for Windows, Mac, iOS and Android devices. The board supports full-key programming through QMK/VIA for remapping, function layers, backlight settings, macros and shortcuts.

  • 75% layout mechanical keyboard
  • Ceramic (industrial alumina) keycaps in WoB and BoW, glossy or matte, legended or blank
  • Crazed-style keycaps in white, blue, green and pink patterns
  • Gasket mount with PC plate, IXPE and Poron foam
  • Gateron Switches RED 2.0, fully hot-swappable
  • USB-C, 2.4GHz and Bluetooth 5.0
  • QMK/VIA programmable
  • RGB backlight and side lighting with 40+ effects and brightness adjustment
  • Kickstand angles of 5.5° and 7.6°

Lighting is part of the pitch as well. The maker credits the ceramic's light transmission for bright RGB backlighting and side lighting, with more than 40 color effects and adjustable brightness. Cerakey, which has run earlier ceramic keycap projects, positions ZEN75 as an alternative to plastic keycaps and suggests ceramic carries a lower environmental impact than plastic, a claim the source does not substantiate further.
